Coming a little late to the party (pardon the pun) Amazon adds Watch Party, its social sharing feature into its Prime Video streaming service. The feature allows you to watch any stream on Prime Video with up to 100 friends, as long as they also have a Prime Video subscription) with the playback synced to the host’s stream.

The host will also be able to pause, the stream to their co-viewing audience. During the session participants can also chat through the window, supporting both text and emojis.

The whole co-watching trend took off like wildfire at the beginning of the pandemic shutdown with Netflix Party and then services such as HBO Max in the US adding Scener and Hulu adding their own social watching feature.

Currently available to US Prime Video customers only we can only hope they roll this out fast globally before this whole trend ends.
