Voicebot.ai has reported that a recent study conducted jointly by NPR and Edison Research shows that more consumers are turning to their smart speakers for entertainment and information during the COVID-19 shutdown.
Of US smart speaker owners surveyed, 23% of respondents said they turn to their smart speaker to play music, compared to 19% the same time last year. This should come as no surprise as people are spending more time at home due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
No surprise as well that as we spend more time at home and travelling less that time on smartphones and tablets have reduced from 37% to 31%.
While these changes are quite obvious it’s questionable as to whether these changes in consumer will remain permanent after shutdown restrictions are lifted. Only time will tell.
